Foxit Quick PDF Library

Happy Holidays

December 22, 2009

This is a quick note to let you know that while we’ll merrily continue to respond to queries through the end of year holiday period, general development, bug fixing and response times will slow down for a couple of weeks.

This break will give us a chance to recharge our batteries and plot out what exciting new features we’ll add in 2010 to Quick PDF Library and our various other products. We already have some exciting features planned (256-bit AES encryption, PDF/A support, Delphi 2010, etc) but rest assured that we’ll be thinking of even more exciting (and frequently requested!) features to add, so that 2010 is our most successful year to date.

We’ll be back at full capacity in the first week of January, ready to take 2010 by storm.

Happy holidays everyone! Stay safe.

  1. Hi Rowan,

I was interested by your list of planned features! Nice to hear that you intend to support 256-bit AES encryption. On this issue, I have a specific question relating to embedded images and arbitrary files via addimagefromfile() and embedfile() function.

As far as I understand the current library does not encrypt these resources. Only the strictly postscript-based part of the pdf is encrypted. That’s what I understood and Ingo nicely confirmed that on the forum.

Too bad if the key element of pdf is specifically… the embedded raster bitmap:(

In view of what I could read on the adobe site, the most recent encryption scheme allows for more tailored encryption including a very nice 3-values option:

Encrypt All Document Contents/Encrypt All Document Contents Except Metadata/Encrypt Only File Attachments

I find these options, the third one even more so, very attractive from a specification POV. Allowing for additional smart use for your great library.

Do you intend to support any of the above mentionned stuff?

    Bonne année et bonne santé:)

    François
