Special Quick PDF Library Hot Fix For Delphi XE2 Update 4

March 3, 2012

A few days ago Embarcadero released Delphi XE2 Update 4 and due to some changes to signatures for certain functions some Quick PDF Library DCU files are unable to be compiled. We have put in a place a hot fix for this issue while we wait on further information from Embarcadero.

Customers using Delphi XE2 update 3 or earlier can continue using the DCUs provided with the main version of Quick PDF Library, available from the updates page. Customers using Delphi XE2 update 4 will need to use these special DCUs:

This hot fix is only available for version 8.14 beta of Quick PDF Library. We will not be providing this hot fix for version 8.13.

Depending on whether this is an accidental or intentional change by Embarcadero we’ll make changes to the installer to accommodate all Delphi XE2 updates with the release of 8.14 in a few weeks.

Try Debenu PDF Maximus, Built Using Quick PDF Library

January 9, 2012

Late last year we released the first release candidate of a new product called Debenu PDF Maximus.

Debenu PDF Maximus

Maximus is an industrial-strength solution for automating your PDF workflows. It removes the need to perform manual operations on PDF files by instead using Action Lists to apply predefined actions on PDF files in a step wise fashion.

Processing of a single or multiple PDF files using standardized Action Lists increases productivity and improves consistency by removing manual labor and human error from the equation.

The release candidate of Maximus is free to use and functional until the end of this month. For all customers who provide us with some feedback we’ll automatically enter your names into a draw to win one of five eBooks of PDF Explained, an easy to understand book about the low levels of PDF.

Upgrade Policy Change

January 2, 2012

With the release of Quick PDF Library 8 we have changed the Standard Upgrade Protection period to 60 days to be inline with the rest of Debenu’s products.

The change means that for two months after the date that you purchase our software you will be eligible for a free upgrade in the event that we release a major new version, but outside of this two month window you will need to pay for an upgrade.

The change applies to upgrades from version 8 to version 9. Customers who purchased version 7 are still eligible for the old Standard Upgrade Protection 90 day period for the version 7 to version 8 upgrade.

The change only applies to major version upgrades (i.e. version 8.x to 9.x), minor version releases are still free (8.15 to 8.16, etc).
