AddImageFromFile is too slow while reading tiff images

Question

We are evaluating quickpdflibrary 7.21 version to convert single and mulit-page tiff files to PDF files. We are facing few problems and need to address all the issues.

  1. AddImageFromFile() reading tiff images very slow and whole reading process of single as well as multi-page is taking too much time.

  2. We are also trying to convert large tiff files to pdf at once, which cause memory related problem. Is there any other good way to create large pdf files with around 3000 pages without getting insufficient memory error.

  3. How we can use direct access methods to make the whole conversion process faster?

Answer
  1. If you send us some samples of these TIFF images to support@quickpdflibrary.com we can investigate why they are slow to load.
  2. Converting large multipage TIFF images to PDF in one go is difficult because of the memory required to process each of those 3000 pages. Each image must be loaded into memory and drawn onto a new page in the PDF. It would be better to break up the process so that only 10 pages of the multipage TIFF image were converted to PDF at a time. Doing the conversion in chunks would mean that you would not run out of memory. It might take a little longer, but it would be less resource intensive.
  3. There is no direct access equivalent function of AddImageFromFile at the moment.1.2.
